Here is one of our early eagle scouts of our troop. |
Troop 199 founded in 1947 has served for over 60 years as the troop out of St. John's Lutheran Church in Denver. In 1953 Ken Maetzold became scoutmaster for a little troop and spiked our small troop into the famous "High Adventure Troop" of Denver Area Council. Our troop had done a lot of stuff from Canadian wilderness waters to the deserts of the Southwest. Climbed 14,000-ft peaks and hike to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, Skied down world-renowned mountains and paddled down rivers and across lakes. Ken Retired after 50 years of service in 2003 to give the post to Kevin Koalenz. So far we have had more then 98 eagles scouts. Ever since the beginning we have been a big supporter in the Order of the Arrow, a honor society with scouting, we have about 40 or more from our troop who are in it. For the 60 years our troop has been around we have seen a lot of scouts and would love to see more join. |
